The melt conveying booster pump is mainly used for the conveying, boosting, and metering of high-temperature and high viscosity polymer melts. In the extrusion molding process of plastic, resin, rubber, and synthetic fiber products, such as granulation, film, pipe, plate, sheet, artificial fiber, optical fiber, medical plastic tubing, etc., the melt conveying booster pump plays an important role. The main function is to pressurize and stabilize the high-temperature plastic melt from the extruder, and then steadily feed the flow rate into the extruder head. Its ability to stabilize melt pressure and flow rate is superior to various types of extruders.

Working principle of melt conveying pump

The melt conveying booster pump is a positive displacement conveying device, and the flow rate is strictly proportional to the pump speed. Mainly composed of pump casing, driving gear, driven gear, sliding bearings, front and rear end plates, packing seals, etc.

The feed area, feed area, and discharge area of the pump are composed of the tooth profile of two gears, the pump body, and the side cover plate. During work, the molten material is transported by the change in working volume caused by the meshing of the main and driven gears.

When the gear rotates in the specified direction, the melt enters the grooves of the two gears in the feeding area. As the gear rotates, the melt is brought into the feeding area from both sides. The re meshing of the gears causes the melt in the grooves to be squeezed out of the discharge area and pressed into the outlet pipeline. As long as the pump shaft rotates, the gear will press the melt towards the outlet side, so the pump outlet can reach a very high pressure, and there are no high requirements for the inlet flow rate and pressure, and even the inlet vacuum suction can be achieved.
