What are the functional characteristics of HDPE material melt gear pumps?
The HDPE extrusion production line needs to be equipped with a melt gear pump, which is generally installed between the screen changer and the die head for metering, pressurization, and pressure stabilization. When using a gear pump, there should be a heating source on the pump body. The temperature of the pump body should be raised from room temperature to the range of 180 ℃~230 ℃, and the material should be turned on before the pump can be started. After the power is turned on, the gear shaft rotates to start pumping the material. When the gear shaft rotates, the material is squeezed and cut by the gear inside the pump casing. During the cutting process, the material itself releases a large amount of shear heat. The generation of shear heat breaks the thermal balance of the pump body, and the pump body quickly heats up in a short period of time, exceeding the process temperature of the material and affecting the quality of the material. In addition, the magnitude of shear heat will change with the speed of the gear pump, which increases the difficulty of temperature control. Therefore, a melt gear pump for HDPE materials needs to achieve the following functions: It can both heat up and intelligently cool down.
The HDPE material specific melt gear pump cools the active and passive shafts through a rotating joint with cooling water flow. At the same time, the cooling water flows through the pump casing through the upper cover, cooling the pump casing and then cooling the material. The pump casing is heated by an electric heating rod, and the electric heating rod and cooling water are controlled by a PID system, thus achieving intelligent temperature control. This eliminates the traditional mold temperature control scheme, reduces maintenance and usage costs, reduces safety risks during personnel operation, and can intelligently control temperature, improving product quality.
