1. BOPP melt pump special requirements
Because BOPP film thickness uniformity, surface quality and production efficiency requirements are extremely high, melt pumps need to meet:
High precision flow control: gear clearance needs to be extremely small (usually <50μm), to ensure that no pulse output.
High temperature and wear resistance: BOPP processing temperature is usually in the range of 200-280 ℃, gear material needs to be nitrided steel or powder metallurgy steel (such as SKD61).
Low shear design: Avoid excessive shearing of PP melt leading to degradation (affecting film mechanical properties).
Quick changeover capability: reduce downtime for cleaning (e.g., rapid melt evacuation when switching from normal PP to matte PP).

Typical BOPP production line flow:
