The control of the melt pump speed needs to take into account a number of aspects
First, the frequency converter control: this is a more common and effective control method. Frequency converter can be set according to the parameters, by changing the motor supply frequency to adjust the speed of the melt pump. Specifically, in the production process, according to the nature of the melt (such as viscosity, temperature, etc.), the requirements of the production process (such as output, pressure, etc.) and the operation of the subsequent equipment, in the frequency converter's operating panel or through the connection of the control system to set the appropriate frequency value. When the viscosity of the melt is high, in order to ensure that the melt can be transported smoothly and does not affect the quality of the product, it may be necessary to reduce the output frequency of the frequency converter, thus reducing the speed of the melt pump; on the contrary, when the viscosity is low, it can be appropriate to increase the frequency and speed in order to meet the production requirements.
Second, PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) control system: PLC can collect data from various sensors (such as pressure sensors, flow sensors, temperature sensors, etc.), and accurately control the rotational speed of the melt pump according to the preset control logic and algorithm. For example, when the flow sensor detects that the actual flow rate of the melt is lower than the set value, PLC will send a command to the frequency converter to increase the output frequency, thus increasing the speed of the melt pump so that the flow rate reaches the set requirement; when the pressure sensor detects that the system pressure is too high, PLC will reduce the speed of the melt pump to avoid the damage to the equipment caused by the overpressure or to affect the quality of the product.
