Commonly used seal forms for melt pump flanges

Flange is one of the most common parts in the connection of pipeline and equipment, which is widely used in many industries because of its convenient operation and reliable performance. In the chemical and extrusion industry of high temperature melt, the connection of each equipment and transfer pipeline is mainly done through flanges.

1. Stop seal

The metal ring seal is similar to the stop seal, in the structure, the seal tab of the stop seal is separated from the flange, and the flange recess is filled with a copper or stainless steel metal ring of relatively softer texture and higher height than the depth of the recess, and usually multiple sealing water lines are opened on both sides of the metal ring to enhance the sealing effect. The metal ring can be reused many times, improving the texture of the stop seal tab and damage is not easy to repair the shortcomings.

4, Tooth-shaped combination gasket seal

Tooth shaped gasket is a kind of metal soft gasket, the sealing effect is better than metal flat gasket, generally using precision lathe to machine the two sides of metal stainless steel flat gasket into concentric 90 degree angle waveform serrated groove, according to different media, can choose flexible graphite, PTFE, non-asbestos sheet or some other soft metal paste on the two sides of the gasket, making full use of the soft cover sealing and the strength and elasticity of metal, but also has the advantage of labyrinth seal. It also has a labyrinth sealing effect, compared to the same sealing effect, the gasket compression force is smaller.
